1503822 Circuit interrupters MERLIN GERIN 9 July 1975 [12 July 1974] 28965/75 Addition to 1405377 Heading H1N An electromagnetic repulsion device having an elongated induction plate 32 coupled to a movable contact 18 and extending into a small width linearly extending air gap 30 of a magnetic circuit 24 as in parent Specification, has its movable contact 18 in the form of a cylindrical rod arranged to bridge contact faces 14, 16 which extend parallel to the rod axis. The magnetic circuit can provide two flux paths with common polepieces 26, 28 as in Fig. 2, or a single flux path as in Fig. 8. A return conductor for the induced currents can be provided (Figs. 5, and Figs. 4, 9 and 10, not shown) and the longitudinal axis of the induction plate 52 may be normal to that of the rod 18.
