1503789 Structural joints METAL SECTIONS Ltd 20 Oct 1976 [15 Nov 1975] 47190/75 Addition to 1468354 Heading F2M The joint disclosed in the parent Specification is modified in that the tongue 13 has projections 19, 23 which are longitudinally spaced such that only the projection 19 acts, by its abutment surface 18, to limit insertion of the tongue in aperture 25 or 29 of the other beam, the other projection 23 having an abutment surface 24 in alignment with the free edge 22 of the resilient integral catch portion 20, so that, as the latter snaps into locking position behind the edge 26 of aperture 25 or 29, guided by engagement of surface 16 of the tongue with inclined edge 27 of the aperture, the surface 24 engages behind the web 11 at the bottom of the aperture. In the event of fire in a suspended ceiling so constructed, this arrangement allows expansion of beam 10 since projection 19 is frangible.
