Abstract
1503788 Oxidation catalyst MONTEDISON SpA 7 Nov 1975 [12 Nov 1974] 46223/75 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A catalyst composition consisting of molybdenum, bismuth, chromium, titanium and cobalt and optionally nickel, phosphorus and/ or an alkaline metal with combined oxygen of empirical formula: in which X represents sodium, rubidium, potassium, lithium or caesium, a is 0.2-6, b is 0.1-6, c is 0.1-4, d is 1-10, e is 0 or up to 10, d+e is 2-15, f is 0 or up to 2, g is 0 or up to 0.5 and h satisfies the valency requirements, is used in the preparation of (meth)acrolein and (meth)acrylic acid by the vapour phase oxidation of propylene or iso butene (see Division C2). The catalyst may be unsupported or on a carrier' such as, silica, alumina, silica-alumina, silicon carbide or pumice. The catalyst may be prepared conventionally by admixture of soluble salts followed by evaporation and calcination.
