Abstract

1502771 Double glazing GLAVERBEL-MECANIVER 23 Jan 1975 [29 Jan 1974 (2)] 04109/74 and 04111/74 Heading C1M [Also in Division B5] A laminated glazing pane used in a multiple glazing panel comprises two or more sheets of vitreous material of which successive facing surfaces are bonded together via an intervening layer of adhesive material, such that the measured value of the base-frequency (f) of the laminated pane when measured by a test, details of which are given, lies in the range 0À70f 0 #f#0À97f 0 , where f 0 is the notional base frequency obtained from the test. The intervening layer may be a self-sustaining sheet of plastics material, e.g. polyvinyl butyral or polyvinyl chloride, which may contain 30À5-35% by weight of a plasticizer, e.g. dioctyl sebacate. The glazing pane may be transparent or translucent, coloured or comprise vitreous sheets which have been tempered to increase strength or coated. The intervening layer may have a thickness of at most 1À0 mm. The pane may comprise at least two vitreous sheets of different thicknesses, e.g. having one sheet at least twice as thick as the other. The laminated pane may be used in a multiple glazing panel comprising a first vitreous pane 7 comprising a first vitreous sheet and, marginally held in spaced relation therewith, as a second pane, the laminate 8. The first pane may consist solely of the first vitreous sheet or may comprise that sheet together with one or more other plies or strata. The panes may be held in spaced relation in a frame at most 25 mm. apart preferably with the use of intervening spacer strips 9 glued or soldered to marginal face portions of the panes. Spacer element 13 may comprise a hollow aluminium sectional member 14 which may be glued by means of a double joint 15. The total thickness of the vitreous material in the laminated pane is preferably less than that of the first vitreous sheet.
