Abstract
1502287 Anti-blocking coatings BOFORS AB 27 Dec 1974 [27 Dec 1973] 55928/74 Heading B2E An article has on at least part of its surface a layer of a polymer applied: by dispersion coating, and on the polymer a layer of a composition comprising, a filler and a surfactant containing at least one hydrophylic group chosen from sulphate, sulphonate and phosphate and at least one C 6 to C 24 hydrophobic group chosen from alkyl, aryl and alkaryl, the surfactant as a whole not being adsorbed onto the polymer, but the hydrophobic groups being adsorbed thereon; the surfactant being in aqueous solution when applied. Suitable articles are made of paper, wood, wood fibre board, wood chip board, plywood, asbestos cement board, concrete, flooring materials and textiles. The polymer may be homo- or copolymers of acrylate, methacrylate, styrene, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride or butadiene monomers. 2-ethyl hehyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate copolymers are exemplified. Suitable fillers are talc, chalk, plastics particles or water-soluble salts (e.g. sodium acetate). The composition may be thickened with colloidal silica or carboxymethyl cellulose.
