Abstract

1499564 Static mixers SULZER BROS Ltd 11 March 1975 [11 March 1974] 10073/75 Heading B1C A static mixer for use in mixing flowing fluids such as cold and hot air streams comprises a duct 1 enclosing mixing elements 2a', 2b' which are formed by a number of adjacent layers 3 each of which includes a number of flow channels 4 extending in groups substantially parallel to each other in each layer and at an inclination to each other from one layer to another, at least one strip-shaped baffle 5 being provided having a width of at least 10% of the maximum height of the duct and disposed normally to the direction of flow of the fluid media. The cross section of the passages may be of various constructional configurations and partitions 6 may be provided between each pair of adjacent layers in the element 2a'. Arrows Lw and Lk donote the directions of inflowing media such as hot and cold air respectively.
