Telephonic relays, repeaters, and translators.-In a thermoelectric relay described for use in a wireless receiver, low-frequency impulses in the anode circuit of the heterodyne receiver energize the magnet 10 and cause the resonator 46 to vibrate. A jet of air is normally directed along the axis of the coil 26, which is composed of fine Wollaston wire and connected in series wth the relay 67 and battery B<2>. Air-pulses in the resonator 46 produced by its vibration deflect the jet upon the wire, lowering its temperature and resistance, and causing an increased current to operate the relay 67, which closes its contact at S'. Switches are furnished for including an ammeter 24 and telephone T in the circuit traversing the coil 26, to provide a visual and an aural indication of current variations therein. The relay 67 may be short-circuited by a switch S<2>.
