1497433 Forming motor vehicle bumpers REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 12 Feb 1975 [18 Feb 1974] 6055/75 Heading B3E [Also in Division B7] A method of manufacturing a steel-section motor vehicle bumper comprises shaping a straight channel-shaped blank 5 having a convex frontal surface in a forming machine to produce a bumper having bent end portions and a concave frontal surface. The machine comprises a support 1 carrying a pair of shaping rollers 2 freely rotatable about axes 3, and a shaping anvil 4 which is rotatable about a vertical axis 7. The blank can be formed in two steps and each end portion bent successively to a curvature of radius r.
