Abstract
1497429 Cleaning system METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 1 May 1975 [3 May 1974] 18310/75 Heading F2N A multiple-effect distillation plant comprising evaporator effects 1, 6, preheaters 49, 2, 7 and entry and exit pipes associated therewith is provided with a cleaning system for cleaning individual evaporator effects, preheaters and entry and exit pipes, without shutting down the whole plant, which system comprises a pipe ring 43, 16, 48, 24, 52, 37 having valve-controlled entry and exit branches to and from the preheaters and evaporator effects to be cleaned, the pipe ring incorporating a vessel 38 sealed against the external atmosphere and containing cleaning solution, and incorporating a pump 42 for circulating the solution. A pressure balancing pipe 39 is provided and condensate from an evaporator effect can be admitted to the vessel 38, to compensate for loss of cleaning solution, the volume of condensate being controlled by a level control 46, Additives may be introduced into the vessel 38 via a pipe 41. The plant may incorporate an arrangement of valves enabling individual evaporator effects to be isolated from the vapour circulating system and vapour condensate circulating system of the plant.
