Abstract

1496796 Spring brake actuators CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO Ltd 16 Jan 1976 [30 Jan 1975] 4107/75 Heading F1D A spring brake actuator comprises separate spring and return cylinders S, H, which are linked to a brake operating rod 18 by a pivoted lever 13. Fluid-pressure supplied through a port 10 normally holds a piston 11 to the left and when the brake is to be applied pressure is released in a controlled manner so that a spring 4 expands and operates the brake. The spring may be safely released from a member 6 and thrust plates 5, 5a by unscrewing a bolt 8.
