Abstract

1496465 Plugs for chair legs VELVIN MOULDINGS Ltd 5 July 1976 27927/76 Heading A4V A plug for insertion into an open end of a tubular metal structure such as a chair leg (12) comprises an elastomeric body 1, e.g. of natural or synthetic rubber or plastics material, and a split tubular ferrule 7, e.g. of metal or plastics material, embracing a shank 3 integral with and tapering from a head 2 of the body 1 and provided with longitudinally extending grooves 5 and, between an adjacent pair of the grooves, a rib 6 which projects radially beyond the rest of the shank surface, the ferrule having opposed edges of the split engaging opposite sides of the rib 6. The ferrule has a flange 9 for engaging the head 2 of the body 1 and the end of the chair leg, and its body is of substantially constant diameter terminating in an inwardly tapering portion 10. The flange 9 may be omitted, the shoulder 4 between the head and shank of the body 1 being provided with a metal insert. The grooves 5 may be semicircular or square in cross-section.
