Abstract

1495775 Clutch release bearings SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 23 May 1975 [1 June 1974] 22829/75 Heading F2L A clutch operating fork 15, pivoted on a stationary spindle (not shown), acts on a clutch release bearing 1 via balls 18, 19 which reduce wear due to sliding between the fork 15 and bearing. The balls 18, 19 are provided in sockets in surfaces 13 and 14 of a casing 11 of the bearing 1, in the embodiment shown. Projections bent from the casing 11 (24, 25, Fig. 2, not shown) prevent it rotating relative to the fork 15. The balls 18, 19 may be replaced by roller or needle bearings. The release bearing 1 can be a plain bearing or have solid rather than sheet metal races. The balls 18, 19 can be in sockets in the fork 15, or in a sliding sleeve instead of as shown.
