Abstract

1495694 Conveying linked sausages TOWNSEND ENG CO 29 March 1976 12543/76 Heading B8A Linked sausages discharged from a sausage machine 10<SP>1</SP>, pass through a guide 146 which is oscillatable on a pivot 164 in synchronism with the movement of a conveyer chain so that alternate lengths of the sausage links are hung on opposite sides of the conveyer. The pivot 164 is connected to an air cylinder 154 (Fig. 10), which is periodically energized by the action of electric means activated by a switch (78) (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown). The latter is operated by lobes (70) (72) of a cam 68 driven by gearing (44) from the drive shaft of the conveyer. As shown, the sausage lengths are hung on plain lugs 144 on an ascending upper run of the conveyer chain. In a modification (Figs. 1-8, not shown), they are hung on hooked lugs 36 as the chain curves round on to its lower run.
