Abstract

1494615 Automatic control of gas turbine engines LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Nov 1974 [10 Aug 1973] 37916/73 Heading G3N An acceleration fuel limit signal is provided in the fuel control system for a gas turbine engine by means responsive to the speed of air-flow in the engine compressor and the engine rotary speed. In the arrangement shown, the engine speed N and compressor inlet temperature T1 are combined in a function generator 13 to provide a signal corresponding to the maximum speed of gas flow. The actual speed of gas flow is detected by a doppler type gas velocity transducer and is compared with the maximum speed signal in comparator 14 to produce an acceleration fuel limit signal. The control logic circuit provides a normal fuel control signal to the fuel system 11 but this may be overridden by the limit signal from comparator 14 when necessary. The arrangement reduces the possibility of the compressor stalling during acceleration.
