Abstract

1493615 Spray producers CIBA - GEIGY AG 31 Oct 1974 [4 Oct 1974] 28725/77 Divided out of 1493614 Heading B2F In an aerosol dispenser, a liquid product is held in a container 811, and a pressurized gaseous propellant in the space above the liquid product, the propellant being optionally contained within an expandable membrane (not shown). A flexible container 828 may contain a further liquid product, or the propellant may be omitted from the space above the liquid product and held in the flexible container 828. The flexible container 828 may be omitted when a single liquid product is to be dispensed. Container 811 has mounted thereon a closure 813 holding a valve housing 810, housing 810 having slidably mounted therein a hollow stem 817 having a central bore 817a and a transverse bore 817b. Mounted at the upper end of stem 817 is a nozzle integrally formed in a pushbutton 830. Annular seals 820, 822 abut a flange 818 on stem 817 and bore 817b in the non-dispensing position. Depression of pushbutton 830 causes liquid product to be forced through a dip tube 828a, a bore 823a, grooves 817d in stem 817, and a passage 833, to the nozzle. Propellant from container 811 flows through a bore 823 in housing 810 and thence through the same flowpaths to the nozzle. Either liquid product or propellant from container 828 flows through a bore 827a, a recess 826, transverse bore 817b, central bore 817a, and a passage 836, to the nozzle. Figure 5 (not shown) illustrates a similar aerosol dispenser wherein two liquid products are fed to passage 836 and propellant only to passage 833.
