Abstract

1493296 Loud-speaker diaphragms SANSUI ELECTRIC CO Ltd 11 Dec 1975 [11 Dec 1974] 50847/75 Heading H4J A loud-speaker diaphragm 14 has an outer edge portion resiliently connected to an inner peripheral portion of an annular member 13 mounted on the end of the loud-speaker frame 11 by a plurality of corrugated positional elements 14a which permit the formation of a substantially uniform gap 19 (e.g. about 0À5 mm. wide) between the diaphragm 14 and annular member 13. A material 20 such as silicon rubber having high internal damping also connects the outer edge portion of the diaphragm 14 to the annular member 13. The positioning elements 14a are preferably placed at 90 degree intervals and are covered with the material 20. As shown in Fig. 3 the positioning elements 14a are adhered to the front of the annular member 13. Alternatively they are fixed to the rear of annular member (Fig. 4, not shown). They may be formed integrally with the diaphragm 14 or may be separate cloth pieces adhered to the diaphragm 14. As shown the diaphragm 14 is conical but it may be a dome diaphragm (not shown). The conical diaphragm 14 has an annular damping spider (15) Fig. 2 (not shown) at its small end and this small end is connected to a voice coil former, the loudspeaker being of moving coil type.
