Abstract

1491584 Mandrels BORG-WARNER GmbH [trading as STIEBER DIVISION DER BORGWARNER GmbH] 23 Oct 1975 [31 Oct 1974] 43590/75 Heading B3B A work-holding device for internally gripping a bore in a workpiece and for subsequent mounting between centres by centre bores 10, 23, comprises an arbor 16 having a tapered portion and a threaded stud 17, a clamping nut 20, and a slotted bushing 19 movable along the tapered portion to grip the workpiece, wherein at the junction of the stud 17 with the tapered portion the stud is provided with a concentric recess 6 producing a diameter which is smaller than the minor diameter of the thread on the stud so that the stud does not deform eccentrically under clamping stress. The nut 20 may be retained in the bushing 19 by a snap connection ring 21.
