Abstract

1491571 Electrode boilers R H EATONWILLIAMS 5 Feb 1976 [5 Feb 1975] 4888/75 Heading F4A An electrode steam boiler comprises a container formed from two identical moulded parts 11, 11a secured by clamping means with two flat annular end faces in contact. On the embodiment shown the two parts 11, 11a are moulded of synthetic plastics material and have blind bores 15 (Fig. 3) on one end, two of which on one part 11 are bored through to mount electrodes 16, 17. Opening 12 on part 11 is for the egress of steam (via a steam hose, not shown) and opening 12 on part 11a is for feed-water inlet or for drain. A filler 13a seats in a recess 13. A further bore 21 on part 11 is bored out to receive a level sensor 21. Beads 29 adjacent the adjoining end faces of the parts are engaged by a resilient band 33 and interengaging projections 31 and holes 32 locate the end faces. The resilient band functions as a fluid seal. When a three phase supply is used three equally spaced bores 14 can receive electrodes while other bores 14 can support an apertured plastics electrode shield (Fig. 4, not shown).
