1489721 Electrical connector NIPPON TELEGRAPH & TELEPHONE PUBLIC CORP FUJIKURA CABLE WORKS Ltd FURUKAWA ELECTRIC CO Ltd and SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 Jan 1976 00194/76 Heading H2E [Also in Division B3] Parallel insulated wire ends 5a of wires 5 of a telecommunication cable are connected together by being placed in a connector 1 comprising a sleeve 2 of copper, aluminium, or alloy thereof, surrounded by insulation covering 4, e.g. plastics material, and a conical wedge 3, of the same material as sleeve 2, having ridges 3a is driven in to pierce the insulation and electrically and mechanically connect ends 5a together. A machine for doing this is described and claimed (see Division B3).
