Abstract

1488852 Carpet sweepers PRESTIGE GROUP Ltd 7 Jan 1975 [30 May 1974] 24088/74 Heading A4F A carpet sweeper comprises a casing within which is a brush rotated by movement of the sweeper over a supporting surface, and an auxiliary brush 33 extends across the front of the casing and is driven by drive means from a drive wheel 10. In the illustrated embodiment, two spaced wheels 10 are provided to support the front of the casing, and each has a boss 39 over which passes a drive belt 42 engaging a boss 41 at a respective end of the brush 33. The spindle 34 of the brush 33 is supported in open ended slots (38) Fig. 2 (not shown) in three webs (37) disposed at the ends and at the middle of the brush, respectively. Dust swept by the auxiliary brush 33 passes over a guide plate 43 into the front dust pan 5 of two pans 5, 6 into which dust is swept by a main brush assembly. The latter is driven by a wheel 9 and is constructed and arranged as described in Specification 1488853.
