Abstract
1485663 Telemetering by sound waves MOBIL OIL CORP 19 March 1975 11430/75 Heading G4F In an acoustic telemetry system using a phase-shifted acoustic signal through a liquid path from a down-hole transmitter in a logging- while-drilling system, a receiving apparatus utilizes a reference signal generator 22 responsive to one phase state of a receiver output signal and a correlator 23 supplied with the output signal and the reference signal. In the embodiment the receiving and detecting apparatus incorporates an integrator 24 from which a bistable 29 is set to afford the information-bit output, and a further integrator 25 supplying a phase-error measuring system. Waveforms are given to illustrate the circuit operation, Figs. 4, 5, 6 (none shown), and the block diagram is described with reference to further detailed circuits, Fig. 3 (not shown).
