1485123 Polymeric substrate for biologically active material NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 25 July 1974 [6 Aug 1973] 08561/77 Divided out of 1485122 Headings C3P and C3R A hollow tube (T) of a solid water-insoluble polymer (P') comprises, on its inner surface, imidate groups (I) which can link with a biologically - active material (B) being an enzyme, a cofactor, an inhibitor, an antigen, or an antibody. (P') may be polyacrylamide or homologue, nylon, polyurethane, urea-formaldehyde, polyacrylonitrile, or polyaminostyrene. (T) may be made from a tube of (P"), a precursor of (P') which comprises groups (G) being primary or secondary amido, aminosubstituted aromatic, or nitrile groups, by converting at least some of the groups (G) to groups (I), e.g. by reacting with an alkylating agent, e.g. a dialkyl sulphate.
