Abstract

1484564 Polymeric diazotized amines KOCHLIGHT LABORATORIES Ltd 24 July 1974 [12 July 1973] 33362/73 Headings C3R and C3H [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises polymeric diazo. tized aromatic diamines, the diazo groups of which have been converted to fluoroborate or fluorosilicate diazonium groups. Specific material described is Bismark Brown obtained by reacting m-diamino benzene (or the hydrochloride) with sodium nitrate at low temperatures; the diazo groups are then converted by reaction with fluorosilicic acid or fluoroboric acid or a salt of one of these acids. The products of the invention may be used to insolubilize biologically active molecules (for example, enzymes) by binding them to a support material which consists of a water-insoluble solid having the diazotized aromatic diamine with diazonium fluoroborate or fluorosilicate groups adsorbed on at least a part of its surface. Solid materials mentioned are silica, polysaccharides, cross-linked dextran, polyacrylamides, polyamides, polycarbonates, polyesters, glass, nylon, diatomaceous earth, paper, rayon, wood, cellulose derivatives, polyurethanes, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, aluminium oxide and iron oxides. Biologically active molecules specified in examples are #- glucosidase, papain, α-amylase, #-gluouronidase and pronase.
