Abstract

1483852 Retractive switches SINGER CO 28 Jan 1975 [11 Feb 1974] 3556/75 Heading H1N An electric switch comprises spaced terminals 12, 14, 16 a U-shaped resilient blade 20 with the free end 26 of one leg 22 pivoted on one terminal 14 and a pivotable actuator 32 engaging the other leg 24 at a point offset from the line connecting the pivot axes of the actuator 32 and blade 20 so that when the actuator 32 is moved in one direction the blade 20 is moved into or out of engagement with another terminal 12, 16. After the free end 30 of the blade 20 has contacted a terminal 12 and the blade 29 has disengaged from a terminal 16, the actuator 32 engages an upstanding tab 56 on the blade 20 to cause the blade 20 to wipe across the terminal 12 on further movement of the actuator 32. The actuator 32 is returned to a neutral position by a leaf spring 42. The blade 20 may also slide on the terminals 14, 16 when the actuator 32 is moved in the opposite direction by providing an inclined tab 58 on the blade 20 in the path of the actuator 32. The switch actuator 32 may control two oppositely disposed blades 20 (Fig. 4, not shown) separated in the switch housing 10 by a partition 18, and may be used to control a motor for raising and lowering a window.
