Abstract

1483060 Handles PRITCHARD (PLASTICS) Ltd 4 June 1975 [6 June 1974] 25050/74 Heading A4U [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] A door handle 1 is attached to a door 2 by a double stud socket fastening. Each mounting stem 4 has a cylindrical socket 5 which contains an integral central peg 6. The stud 7 has a hollow shank 9, the bore being smaller than the diameter of peg 6 whilst the external diameter of the shank 9 is the same as the diameter of socket 5. Thus the stud fits tightly into the socket because of the interference fitting of the peg and its consequent effect on the fitting of the shank and socket. The head 8 of the stud 7 is provided with webs 13 and conical projections 14 which bite into the door and prevent the stud components being turned. Fig. 2 shows a similar fastening used for a door knob and Fig. 3 a drawer handle.
