Abstract

1482443 Injecting treating gases DIDIER WERKE AG 26 July 1974 [27 July 1973] 33149/74 Heading F4B A refractory gas pervious brick for steel refining, e.g. introducing iron carbonyl into molten steel comprises at least one smooth walled passage of 0À2 mm. to 1À0 mm. uniform diameter extending through the thickness of the brick. The brick may be prepared by casting a ceramic composition in a mould around wires of the appropriate diameter, e.g. 0À6 mm. Where a plurality of passages is concerned the diameter of one passage may differ from those of the other passages. The ceramic composition may be: Sintered alumina 16À5% by weight 1À2-2À4 mm. grain size Sintered alumina 16À5% by weight 0À6-1À2 mm. grain size Sintered alumina 21À5% by weight 0À3-0À6 mm. grain size Sintered alumina 15À0% by weight smaller than 0À3 mm. Calcined alumina 15À5% by weight, ultra fine Calcined aluminate cement 15À0% by weight, ultra fine. 100 parts by weight of this mixture are mixed with 10À5 parts by weight of water.
