Abstract

1482219 Coating by evaporation BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 13 Sept 1974 [17 Sept 1973] 40005/74 Heading C7F A metal band, wire, mesh coating or molten metal is evaporated explosively by passing a current through it, and the metal deposited on a substrate under the influence of a magnetic or electric field, e.g. by accelerating the vapourized material. The magnetic field may be produced by the current used to vapourize the material or by a separate current. A screen may be used to control the distribution of the coating. The current may be induced in the material.
