Abstract
1481002 Charging blast furnaces ISHIKAWAJIMA HARIMA JUKOGYO KK 19 Aug 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 36380/74 Heading F4B [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for feeding raw materials to a blast furnace comprises a rotary shoot 2, a distribution shoot 18 on a U-shaped support 16 pivotally mounted at 17 on the rotary shoot, and a housing 4 in the shoot 2 enclosing a space free from charge material through which extends a control rod 26 pivotally attached to a link 25 which is itself pivotally attached to the shoot 18 for tilting the same. The distribution shoot 18 has outer brackets 22 by which it is removably attached to the support 16 by nuts and bolts 23. A rotary rod 9 rotates the shoot 2 and the distribution shoot 18 driven by a hydraulic motor (not shown) through gearing 33, 35 and 36. The control rod 26 is moved vertically by a hydraulic motor 38. Charge material in air-tight hoppers 30 can be discharged into a stationary hopper 31 through a gas seal bell 52 and thence controllably fed through the rotary shoot 2 through a vertically movable bell 42 into the shoot 2. According to whether the angle of inclination of the distribution shoot 18 is fixed during charging or varied, raw materials are distributed in the furnace in circular or helical form. Each gas seal bell 52 is operated by an hydraulic motor 54 and each hopper 30 also has an upper gas seal flap valve (61, Fig. 4). The bell 42 is operated by a hollow rod 43 through horizontal rods 44, vertical rods (45, Fig. 4) and an hydraulic motor (46). The shoot and associated equipment is surrounded by a gas tight casing 12 with a door 29 through which the shoot 18 and rotary shoots 2 can be dismantled, withdrawn and replaced. The material in hopper 30 may be measured by weight responsive devices or photoelectric cells. With the construction shown, movable operating ports within the shoot 2 are substantially protected from contact with the charge material.
