1480615 Catamenial device PIERRE FABRE SA 26 June 1974 [26 June 1973] 28337/74 Heading A5R A catamenial device for internal use comprises an absorbent tampon, made of a hydrophilic material, and carrying and enveloped by a flexible, permeable membrane, the membrane acting as a support for therapeutic constituents e.g. antiseptics, antibiotics, hormones &c or deodorants, the membrane being formed on the tampon by immersing it in a solution of an organic solvent preferably of low boiling point and containing a membrane forming agent such as alginic acid, gum arabic &c. For a diversified action of the device, there are successive layers of the membrane, each containing one or more complementary or compatible substances. The device may be provided with a flexible cord for its recovery.
