Abstract
1480378 Winding bodies from webs to form spigot and socket ends IFAKAROSSERIEWERKE VEB 15 Aug 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 35975/74 Heading B8G To form a wound body, at least one stretchable web and an at least equal number of non- woven fibrous webs are simultaneously pulled from supply rolls arranged axially parallel to a rotating mandrel, the or each stretchable web is impregnated with synthetic resin, and the webs are wound on to the mandrel with the or each non-impregnated non-woven web resting on an associated stretchable web each of which is maintained in a flat, taut condition, the winding including helical winding of constant or non- constant pitch extending from the innermost layer directly to the outermost layer, or from one of the layers following the innermost layer possibly to the outermost layer, whereby the web edges form a step-wise or steadily tapering projection at one body end, and form a corresponding stepwise or steadily inwardly tapering sleeve at the other body end. Two or more body portions are simultaneously and adjacently wound on one winding mandrel, the projection and sleeve of adjacent bodies forming a rigid tapering connection. Separately wound bodies may be joined by adhesion at the projectionsleeve joint before or after resin hardening. The stretchable locks may be so applied to the mandrel that they always form the outer layer. Webs of foam material may be applied to the mandrel. The wound bodies may form containers, vehicle bodies and buildings, and may have inlays of, for example, sound-proofing material.
