Abstract

1479887 Resilient mounting systems; linkwork CEMENTATION (MUFFELITE) Ltd 25 June 1974 [5 June 1973] 26876/73 Headings F2S and F2K Apparatus for resiliently supporting a body 1 to permit translational motion of the body 1 in a plane while preventing angular motion in that plane comprises: the body 1; resilient supports 8; two fixed mountings 4, 6, each adjacent to one of two points, 7, 3, respectively, on the body 1; and at least one flexible cable 2 in a sheath 5, each cable end and sheath end being attached respectively to one or other of the fixed mountings 4, 6 or the points 7, 3. Parallel motion may be obtained by either: (a) As in Fig. 1, arranging the sheath 5 so that it curves through 180 degrees and attaching its ends to one fixed mounting 6 and one fixed point 7; (b) As in Fig. 3, arranging the sheath 5 in an S-shape with its ends parallel and attached to the fixed mountings 4, 6. Two cables 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and sheaths 5, 5<SP>1</SP> may be used in combination so that each acts in tension only, as in Fig. 2, or Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). Restriction of motion of the body to translation may be applied in two planes or three planes Fig. 6 (not shown).
