Abstract

1478623 Counting apparatus COUNTING INSTRUMENTS Ltd 27 Oct 1975 [1 Nov 1974] 47419/74 Heading G4D [Also in Division F2] A spacing washer particularly for use in a mechanical counter consists of a plurality of jaws 12, 14, 16 which can be push fitted to a shaft, each being associated with a pair of surfaces differently spaced to provide different axial spacings between parts mounted on the shaft. As shown each jaw is raised a different height above the face of a disc 10, the opposite face of the disc carrying an annular ridge 18. Alternatively each jaw may be associated with separately formed spacing surfaces. The washer is of moulded plastics and has pips 28 indicating the different thicknesses. In use a jaw of suitable thickness is employed to hold the number wheels of a counter closely together. Another of the jaws can be engaged with the transfer shaft so the washer can be pivoted into and out of engagement with the main shaft. When disengaged the wheels will be free on the shaft to allow them to be adjusted for presetting.
