Abstract

1477175 Reflex reflectors L EIGENMANN 21 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 27610/74 Heading G2J A transparent sphere for a reflex reflector, e.g. of 0À1-3À0mm. diameter, comprises a core 30 having a diameter greater than half the diameter of the sphere and a R.I. between 1À595 and 1À62 and an outer portion 32 having a R.I. between 1À47 and 1À52 and a "transparency factor T" (defined) greater than 75%. The core may be homogeneous and of glass while the outer portion may be layered, with R.I. decreasing outwardly, and made of a polymer. In the sphere of Fig. 2 (not shown) the diameter of the core is about <SP>2</SP>/3 that of the sphere; the R.I. of the core is 1À595 and that of the outer portion is 1À52. In the sphere of Fig. 4, the R.I. of the core 30 is 1À62 and that of the outer portion 32 is 1À47.
