Abstract
1474250 Injection mould; sprue removal A WOLMAN 30 Dec 1974 [4 Jan 1974] 56081/74 Heading B5A An injection mould assembly comprises a pair of die plates 19, 20 forming a plurality of mould cavities 27, subsidiary injection passages 25 located at the face of one of the die plates 20 remote from the cavities and each communicating with a common injection passage 24 and with the mould cavities 27 via holes 26 in the die plate 20, and extractor pins 29 extending through an ejector plate 31 and into the passages 25 and holes 26, the ejector plate being movable to strip the material extracted from the passages 25 and holes 26 from the pins 29 after it has been separated from the moulded articles and the plate 20 by retention on the pins 29. The extractor pins 29 and an extractor pin 32 for the main sprue are mounted on a plate 30 which moves away from the ejector plate 31 to strip the sprue and runner material from the pins 29 after both plates have separated from the die plate 20 together. Springs bias apart the die plate 20 and the ejector plate 31, and also the die plate 19 and the mounting plate 22 for core pins 23 which extend into the cavities 27 during the moulding of buttons from acetal copolymer.
