Abstract

1473914 Controlling feed OKUMA MACHINERY WORKS Ltd 7 May 1974 [9 May 1973] 20096/74 Heading G3N In a feed control system comprised in a numerical control system, feed commands being only intermittently available, a notional increment of feed #F is multiplied by factors 1, 2, ..., N in unit 3, and, at provision of clockpulses T, a selected multiplied signal is gated by unit 2 under control of pulse storage circuit 1, to be accumulated with previous signals to form an accumulated total ##F, which is compared with a unit feed amount #X in comparator 6. Whenever ##F exceeds #X, quantity #X is added to an accumulated total X in accumulator 9 the total X comprising feed command data for the machine tool, and a quantity corresponding to #X is subtracted from accumulator 5. Pulses may be generated at a rate (M o ) Fig. 2 (not shown) related to rotational speed of a spindle, the pulse rate (M o ) being successively divided in unit (11). Comparator (10) controls gates (12) in dependence on the rate M o in relation to a fixed pulse rate from generator (13), the resultant rate (M 1 ), controlling storage circuit 1, having a rate dependent upon spindle speed, the gates being operated to ensure that such rate is of the same order as the rate from generator (13).
