1471856 Cyclohexene derivatives SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 27 Feb 1976 07818/76 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R 1 and R 4 are alkyl, R 2 and R 3 are H or alkyl and A is a trivalent group of the formula the central carbon atom of which is linked to the cyclohexene ring to form a bicyclo system, or, when R 2 is alkyl and R 3 is H, A may also represent a divalent group of the formula or -CH=CH-CH 2 -. Compounds wherein A is the trivalent group are prepared by cyclizing compounds wherein A is the group in the presence of an acid catalyst. Compounds wherein A is the group -CH 2 -CH=CH- are prepared by condensing compounds of the formula and CH 3 COR 4 in the presence of a basic catalyst. Compounds wherein A is the group are prepared by isomerizing compounds wherein A is the group -CH 2 -CH=CH-.
