1471415 Pre-combustion chambers BRITISH LEYLAND UK Ltd 3 Dec 1974 [5 Dec 1973] 56352/73 Heading F1B In a stratified charge I.C. engine having main and auxiliary combustion chambers 18, 19 communicating via passage 20, the flow of fuel/air mixture through duct 21 into auxiliary chamber 19 is controlled by a spring-loaded poppet valve 22 actuated by solenoid 25. Ignition in chamber 19 is effected by plug S. The inlet valve 17 and exhaust valve of main chamber 18 are actuated by overhead cam-shaft 23.
