Abstract
1471137 Conveyer system J A NEWTON 11 July 1974 [26 April 1973] 19986/73 Heading B7L [Also in Divisions A4 and B8] A storage system comprises a track, a train of carriages movable along the track, drive means, Fig. 3 (not shown), for the train and means for stopping and starting the train, each carriage having storage means 50 comprising storage units 52 which can be rotated for access to required stored articles on stopping the train. The track comprises upper and lower guides 18, 20, each carriage having wheels 26 running on the upper guide 18 and a roller 32 co-operating with the lower guide 20. A post 30 of the carriage supports the storage means 50 for rotation, the units 52 of adjacent carriages interdigitating while link arms 34, 36 connect the carriages for movement in unison. Plates 38 projecting from the arms 34 are engageable with a chain (40), Fig. 3 (not shown), driven by a motor 44 for moving the train.
