Abstract

1470991 Stripping cable BUNKER RAMO CORP 22 May 1974 [23 May 1973] 22933/74 Heading H2C A device to remove insulation from wire by two cutting knives has a stop cam to limit the movement of the knife blades towards each other which acts on a cam follower fitted on one of the moving supports of the knife blades. Preferably each knife 1 is on a support arm 2a fitted on a movable support block 2 normally held apart by a spring 5. Each support block has a pin 15 acting as a cam follower on two parallel surfaces 13 of a stop cam. The stop cam is a head 12 fitted on an arm 11 whose other end is constrained to move in an arc of a circle by a guide (18, Fig. 1, not shown) which can have a scale (20, not shown) mounted alongside to permit setting of the arm. A wing nut (19, not shown) permits clamping of the arm. Rotation of the arm causes the pins to move apart in the same direction as that in which the knives move, and to an equal amount a. The support blocks are themselves mounted on rollers (not shown) and moved via springs 6 strong enough to overcome spring 5 by arms 7 carrying rollers 9 acting as cam followers to vertically moving actuators 10.
