1470962 Fire extinguisher mountings V E SENTINELLA 11 April 1974 [12 April 1973 18 Oct 1973] 17774/73 and 11384/74 Heading A4B A fire extinguisher mounting comprises a vertical spine 1, mounting means, e.g. arms 17, 18, extending forwardly from the top of the spine 1, an over-centre pivotally connected to the mounting means at a point 21 remote from the spine 1, force applying means 35 and 54 mounted at another point on the over-centre linkage and arranged to bear on one end of the extinguisher, the overcentre linkage being movable through a dead-centre position between a first position in which the force applying means is vertically spaced from the mounting means and a second position in which it is less vertically spaced therefrom, one of the positions defining an unlocked position and the other defining a locked position in which the force applying means presses the opposite end of the extinguisher against an abutment, e.g. base 14, an operating handle 23 or 56 being connected to or forming part of the over-centre linkage to move it between the first and second positions. In one embodiment, Figs. 1, 2, the over-centre linkage comprises a first pair of links 24, 25 pivoted at one end 26 to the arms 17, 18 and rigid with the handle 23, and a second pair of links 30 pivoted to the opposite end 27 of the first links 24, 25, the second links 30 being bolted to the force applying means 35 which includes a pair of arcuate plates 36, 37 carrying rubber pads 43 which bear on the top end of the extinguisher. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the force applying means 54 bears on the bottom of the extinguisher and the handle 56 forms a part of one of the links of the overcentre linkage.
