Abstract

1469943 Thermally crystallizable glass OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 9 April 1974 15583/74 Heading C1M A glass thermally crystallizable to form a glass-ceramic comprises the glass having a molar ratio Na 2 O : Nb 2 O 5 of 0À8-1À2 : 1, the said three oxides totalling at least 90% by weight of the glass and there being not more than 10% by weight of incidental ingredients and impurities. The glass-ceramic formed from the glass preferably has a dielectric constant in excess of 150 and a dissipation factor of less than 2%. In the examples a transparent glass-ceramic is formed by heating the glass at 1050‹ F. for 2 hours and then at 1175‹ F. for 1 hour, and opaque glass-ceramics are formed by heating to 1200‹ F. for 2-8 hours, or by heating to 1175-1410‹ F. for 2 hours and then at 1150- 1175‹F. for 1 hour.
