Abstract

1469504 Testing cigarettes MOLINS Ltd 6 May 1974 [8 May 1973] 22002/73 Heading A2C A cigarette testing apparatus has a device 18 for applying positive or negative pressure to one end of the cigarette, a chamber 12 linked to a transducer around part of the cigarette, seals to restrict communication between the chamber and the atmosphere and a predetermined leakage path 14, 10, 11 between the chamber and the atmosphere. As shown the chamber may be formed in a flange portion 4A of the testing drum 4 on which the cigarette rests; the cigarette being blown into the bore by compressed air emitted by a fixed member 26. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the flange is replaced by an auxiliary drum which co-operates with the main drum to form the chamber.
