Abstract

1469291 Zoom lenses CANON KK 22 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 12803/74 Heading G2J A zoom lens system having a front lens assembly compressing a focusing lens group G 1 -G 4 , a variator G 5 -G 7 , and a compensator G 8 -G 9 , and a rear lens assembly comprising a compensator B, a variator C and a fixed relay system D, is characterized in that the four movable lens groups are supported in lens mounts which are moved along the optical axis on rotation of a cam barrel 101; the four cam grooves 4', 5', 6', 7' are arranged to impart axial movement to the groups G 5 -G 7 , G 8 -G 9 followed by axial movement of the rear groups B, C. A key, 118, adjustably positioned in an axially extending slot 119 of the barrel 101 cooperates with a cam slot in an inner guide sleeve (102), the setting of the key 118 in the slot 119 determining the degree and direction of rotation of the cam barrel 101 and therefore the range of zooming. A diaphragm aperture is controlled through a member 124 which is coupled to a cam groove 128.
