Abstract

1468481 Mixing apparatus C C VALERI 4 April 1975 [5 April 1974] 13997/75 Heading B1C A continuous mixer comprises two rotors 9 rotatable at equal velocities and in opposite directions in a mixing chamber 12 which has feed and discharge orifices, the mixing chamber being divided into a feed zone 15 and a mixing zone 16, wherein the two rotors are each provided in the feed zone with a two start screw spindle 20 each spindle being rotatable in a separate cylindrical chamber. and in the mixing zone with two mixer blades 11 which are disposed diametrically opposite one another on the rotor each of which mixer blades has a continuous profile and extends over substantially the whole length of the mixing zone. Each blade 11 has four zones in two 21, 23 of which the blade extends parallel to the rotor axis and in the other two 22, 24 of which the blade extends helically and is arranged to feed material to the centre of the mixing zone 16. The rotors are so shaped that the trailing side 28 of each blade 11 is of greater convexity than the leading side 25 so as to maintain a constant distance between the two rotors.
