Abstract

1468286 Photographic silver halide emulsions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 2 Sept 1974 [3 Sept 1973] 38303/74 Heading G2C A photographic silver halide core-and-shell emulsion suitable for use as a lith emulsion is made by forming an emulsion of silver chloride grains, converting said grains into silver bromide by treatment with an aqueous solution of a bromide and then precipitating silver chloride on to the silver bromide grains thus obtained to form grains having a core-and-shell structure, the aqueous bromide solution and/or the silver chloride shell optionally containing up to 5 mol. per cent of iodide based on the halide present in said solution or shell. The preferred chloride/bromide ratio of the finished grains is 50/50 to 95/5 based on mol. per centages.
