1467196 Self-processing cameras POLAROID CORP 30 April 1975 [2 May 1972 (2)] 18028/75 Heading G2A In a self-processing camera, in which processing composition contained in a pod 76 is spread between the image-receiving and photo-sensitive sheets 70, 72 of an exposed film unit as they pass between pressure rollers 44, 46 and then out of the camera through an exit opening 82, an opaque curtain 88 moves with the film unit to cover it for a predetermined distance beyond the opening. This prevents light from falling on any part of the transparent image-receiving sheet which is external of the camera and being conducted by internal reflection to an unprocessed part of the unit which is still within the camera. As shown, the opaque curtain is in the form of a roll 88, normally occupying the rolled-up position of Fig. 2. Against this rests a resilient tab 96. As the processed film unit passes from the rollers 44, 46, its leading edge engages and deflects tab 96, and then engages and unrolls the curtain 88. This unrolls and lies along the top surface of the film unit, until it has been completely unrolled. The leading edge of the film unit then disengages from the blind just as its trailing edge is about to leave the rollers 44, 46 (position of Fig. 4). On further movement of the unit, the curtain rolls itself up again Fig. 5 (not shown), and since the trailing edge has left the rollers, it is now releasably held between tab 96 and curtain 88.
