Abstract

1467140 Educational appliances XEROX CORP 18 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 17060/74 Heading G5G Educational apparatus for teaching the principles of magnetism and induction comprises a board 10 upon which are mounted a permanent magnet 11, two aligned wire-wound coils 12, and a lamp socket 13; a plurality of manipulation pieces for co-operating with the board 10 and including, for example, a compass, an iron core rod, a container of iron filings, and wires for establishing a circuit between the coils and the lamp socket; and audio visual instruction means (not shown) for presenting teaching material and for directing the use, by a student, of the manipulative pieces in conjunction with relevant sections of the board 10. The instruction means may comprise tape recordings with associated slides or film strips, and may include worksheets for the student. A container 14 for the manipulative pieces may be provided on the board 10.
