Abstract

1466805 Filters CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 12 Dec 1974 [26 Dec 1973] 53832/74 Heading B1D Filter 10 is provided with cylindrical baffle 24 to prevent direct impingement of fluid entering inlet 12, on paper filter element 16. As shown the filter has a spring-loaded bypass valve 28, which opens when the filter element 16 clogs, the entering fluid then passing from chamber 14 through openings 26 in baffle 24 to central bore 20. The baffle 24 is connected to cover 23, e.g. by welding, and the cover 23 is bolted onto housing 11.
