1465145 Drill supports ATLAS COPCO AB 17 June 1974 [3 July 1973] 26704/74 Heading B4C [Also in Division B3] A longitudinally extensible boom assembly for positioning an elongated rock drilling apparatus 38-48 comprises a boom support 12, a boom 10 pivotally supported by pivot means 11 on the support, a support sleeve 32 on the outer end of the boom, a boom extension member 33 longitudinally slidable in the support sleeve and a head assembly 34 carried by the boom extension member for adjustably supporting the rock drilling apparatus which may be of the rotarypercussive type. A power cylinder 60 connected to the boom extension member actuably extends the assembly and the boom extension member is guided in the support sleeve 32 by guide means 62 extending axially along the member and attached thereto at at least one end thereof and co-operating with one or more guiding grooves 75 in the sleeve. Guide members 62 may be screwed into grooves 61 in member 33 by screws (63) the screws also securing cylinder 60 (Fig. 6, not shown). The members 62 may be located by shims 70, 71 Fig. 8, in grooves 75 and the sleeve 32 may be in the form of a journal bearing pillow block with part-cylindrical bearing shells 69 (Fig. 3) glued thereto. The guide members may be movably supported at their inner ends by a ring member 64, Fig. 5. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 9, not shown, the guide members (76) may be in split lengths, e.g. three end-to-end in each groove.
