1462958 Controlled release devices ARTHUR D LITTLE Inc 14 May 1974 [17 May 1973] 21361/74 Heading A5B An implant device for the controllable release of a biologically active substance or a diagnostic agent into a living host into which it is to be implanted comprises a biodegradable matrix structure formed from a substantially non-toxic polymer of an alpha-amino acid having the substance which is to be controllably released physically distributed therethrough. The implants may be for example, in the form of films, ribbons rods or fibres and may be implanted in or near an organ of the body, or they may be implanted subdermally They may also be administered as uterine or vaginal inserts.
